The Krawczyk Family Foundation Pledges $200,000 to COVID-19 Gift Match
Thank you to everyone who helped us meet our goal! You helped us unlock the full gift match, which has now officially ended.
As COVID-19 cases mount and more and more patients arrive at Toronto hospitals, our community has rallied in support of Humber’s frontline staff and patients. Now, Brad and Alex Krawczyk have stepped forward with a $200,000 gift match from The Krawczyk Family Foundation.
“We are all in this together,” says Brad. “Our family has a long history of supporting Humber River Hospital and now our community needs us more than ever. Whatever you can give, we are here to match it.”
The Krawczyk Family Foundation has pledged $100,000 to match donations to the Humber Frontline Support Fund, which will help pay for things like meals and travel for frontline staff, and $100,000 to match donations to the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which allows Humber to respond without delay to rapidly changing needs in order to keep patients and their families safe.
Through this generous gift match, Humber River Hospital Foundation is aiming to raise $400,000 – the beginning of a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign to fund Humber’s response to the coronavirus today and well into the future. Today, we are asking everyone in the community to donate what they can and support Humber’s care teams in their fight against this pandemic.
The fight against COVID-19 feels personal for Alex and Brad. Alex is a nurse, currently on-call, and has previously worked on the frontlines in an emergency department. Many of her colleagues are currently on the frontlines.
“The COVID-19 outbreak is frightening for many reasons,” says Alex. “There are so many layers to this pandemic. Our family wants to be part of a strong response in support of our community.”
Brad and Alex established The Krawczyk Family Foundation just over a year ago, focusing on projects that enhance community healthcare and make it more accessible. They are passionate about protecting older adults, perhaps now more than ever.
“We will get through this by working together,” urges Alex. “Everyone has an important part to play. There’s a lot of work to be done and together we will get through this faster with better outcomes. Let’s keep our frontline healthcare providers safe, keep our patients safe, and end this crisis.”
“This is an opportunity for everyone to come together,” adds Brad. “Anything you can give will make a difference – any donation now will help save lives and stop this pandemic. We are all part of the community and we all need to help each other.”
