Schulich Family Medicine Teaching Unit

The Schulich FMTU not only delivers essential healthcare services to individuals and families in our community who require primary care but also plays a crucial role in shaping the future of medical professionals.

Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors, the Schulich Family Medicine Teaching Unit (Schulich FMTU) at Humber River Health has positively impacted the lives of more than 1,900 patients including grateful patients Berta and Daniela. The Schulich FMTU not only delivers essential healthcare services to individuals and families in our community who require primary care but also plays a crucial role in shaping the future of medical professionals.

With the intention of tackling the pressing shortage of primary care providers in Northwest Toronto, the Schulich FMTU offers prompt healthcare access to community members within our catchment. Simultaneously, it serves as a pivotal training platform for the upcoming generation of family medicine experts. Recognized as an official teaching site under the University of Toronto’s Family Medicine Residency Program, the Schulich FMTU offers specialized training to first and second-year medical residents aspiring to become Family Physicians.

With ongoing support, our objective is to extend our reach and provide care to over 9,000 new patients through our dedicated residents and physicians by 2026. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors for believing in our mission and for their invaluable contributions. Together, we are deeply impacting the lives of our patients and shaping the future landscape of healthcare.
