For Alison, her journey as a Humber River Health Foundation volunteer is one filled with many meaningful moments and connections.

“The Humber community has been so good to me and I thought the Foundation would be a wonderful place to volunteer!” says Alison.

After a successful hip replacement surgery led by Dr. Sebastian Rodriguez-Elizalde, Alison was invited to a donor appreciation garden party where she was asked to wear a badge that said, “Ask me why I’m grateful!”

She loved sharing her story with donors. These encounters, mixed with her genuine desire to give back to the community, sparked her interest in becoming a volunteer for Humber River Health Foundation.

“I retired in June of 2018 from teaching and I was looking for something to do,” says Alison. “The Humber River Heath community has been so good to me and I thought the Foundation would be a wonderful place to volunteer!”

From week to week, you can see Alison answering calls and questions from grateful patients and donors, greeting people in our front lobby, helping with greeting cards, and more!

Alison has always found solace in the supportive community at the Foundation. “The team is always eager, happy, and cheerful to help out in any way possible,” says Alison. “It’s the kindness and care of the people at Humber that continues to bring me back.”

Alison’s dedication to making a difference, no matter the task, serves as an inspiration. Her wealth of diverse skills, dedication, and passion are evident in all that she does and we are forever grateful for her selfless contribution to our team. Thank you, Alison!
