Automated Guided Vehicles at Humber River Hospital

July 19, 2017

automated guided vehiclesVehicle is approaching. If you can hear this, you’re likely right around the corner from one of our Swisslog Automated Guided Vehicles on a delivery run.

Our Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are self-guided robots that move at the speed of an average person walking. They can call elevators, open doors, and carry food and supplies throughout the Hospital.

Just a few of the things that these robots carry throughout the back hallways of the Hospital:

  • Non-narcotic medication from our Pharmacy DepartmentAutomated Guided Vehicles
  • Food
  • Supplies
  • Bedding

Don’t worry – they can’t run you over – Automated Guided Vehicles are programmed to stop for people (although they might ask you to move!)

AGVs are an important part of the automation that takes place in our Pharmacy Department. Watch Bhupinder Nijjer, the Automation Supervisor, call an Automated Guided Vehicles for a medication delivery:
