New Humber River Hospital now open: Inpatients have been moved from 3 legacy sites

TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2015 /CNW/ – A new era in healthcare in Ontario began with the opening of the new Humber River Hospital today, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at 6:00 a.m.

The new hospital is the first fully digital hospital in North America, with some of the latest technology available today integrated throughout to support excellence in care. At 1.8 million square feet, it took 43 months to build.

With the new hospital now open, the public is asked to note the following changes to Humber River Hospital’s operational structure:

  1. The new hospital, located at 1235 Wilson Avenue (near Keele St and Hwy. 401) is fully operational, including the Emergency Department.
  2. The Church St. site located near Jane St. and Black Creek Drive is now closed for all healthcare services, including Emergency Services.
  3. The Finch site (at Finch Ave. and Hwy. 400) is now an ambulatory and Urgent Care Centre. It is open seven days a week from9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  4. The Keele St. location has moved all mental health patients and services to the new hospital.
    Dialysis and Physiotherapy services continue to be provided at the Keele St. location.
